Jazzy locs (with a little r&b)

It should not be surprising that the individualistic rhythms of jazz should give birth to the best in loc styles. Take a look at these ladies who have heated up the loc scene with their own jazzy vibe…

Ledisi This young ingenue has headlining the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra at the tender year of 8 to her credit. Now on her own, her locs polish her soulful, r&b style.

Dee Alexander Chicago’s very own Alexander has rocked the jazz scene not only locally but internationally. Her signature honey-hued locs only accentuate every note.

Maggie Brown Also from Chicago, this daughter of the legendary Oscar Brown, Jr. has blazed her own trail in jazz and as an actress.

Lalah Hathaway Another Chicago native, and daughter of the late Donny Hathaway, Lalah Hathaway has heated up the charts with several albums and memorable hits (our favorites,”Heaven Knows”, and “Forever, For Always, For Love”).

Cassandra Wilson Her sultry voice is as smooth as the lushness of her locs.
