Just in time for back-to-school, everyone can relate to a student’s budget. Rent. Heat. Books. Food. Clothes. And yes, beauty items. Need to choose between that loc conditioner or lunch at the cafeteria? With these items that are as accessible as your neighborhood drugstore and priced within reach, your locs needn’t suffer.
). Neutrogena Triple Moisture Professional Deep Recovery Hair Mask. I used to use this when I had a natural. I wanted to give it a try with my locs to see if it would make a difference. I slathered on this rich mask on my locs, placed a plastic cap over them and left it on overnight. The result? Soft, supple locs. It’s at your local drugstore. Only $7.
). Jamaican Mango & Lime Protein Conditioner. I wrote about this conditioner in an earlier post. For a quick instant conditioner, this did the trick. Around $4-6.
). Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is not just for cooking. This kitchen staple is a great hot oil treatment or everyday oil when placed in a misting bottle and mixed with an essential oil for scent and added benefits (like sandalwood, lavender, ylang ylang, etc.). Lightly mist on locs when you need that extra moisture. Only $3.
). Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo. This shampoo is also a good buy. Leaves hair soft, lathers richly and won’t break the bank. (Note: The label says that it detangles, but since you aren’t combing through your hair afterwards, you shouldn’t experience any unraveling of locs.)
.) Organic Root Stimulator Lock & Twist Gel. This is a loc beauty staple. Great hold for newly twisted roots, and soft locs afterwards is the result. Only $4 for a small jar.
