Loc’d Life Magazine, www.locdlife.com, is your guide to the loc’d lifestyle: loc styles, loc care, nutrition, advice, and essays on the loc’d hair experience.

gail1Loc’d Life Magazine is the creation of editor and publisher Gail Mitchell, graphic designer, educator, and lover of locs. Mitchell started Loc’d Life Magazine as a portfolio piece and decided to take the idea even farther. She entered the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago’s A.R.I.S.E. Entrepreneur Program, a six-week incubator for new businesses. Loc’d Life Magazine won as an 8th Place Finalist. That was in 2009. Today, Loc’d Life has grown from a website to a blog, with two print editions, available at hpMagCloud.com. Loc’d Life also started Locs on the Rocks, an event that honors the loc industry’s best with the LadyLocs Awards.

Loc’d Life’s mission: to celebrate the beauty of locs and to educate on care and maintenance, change viewpoints, and bring items of interest for loc wearers to the forefront. Loc’d Life hopes that locs will be seen as not just a style of rebellion, but as a style that truly reflects one’s personality and uniqueness.

  1. I love all of your articles. When I decided to begin my loc journey July 2011, I was received so negatively. Now I get so many compliments about my hair.
